Various Signage for Slice Golf, Oxford

Slice Golf asked Carousel Lights to help with the internal signage for their new venue in Oxford. The team behind this awesome venue had already worked up a clear style guide, meaning that the design requirements were evident from the outset. There were various illuminated and non-illuminated items in the brief.

SLICE SLICE BABY, SWING & SPRITZ – Neon Ultra®

Slice Slice Baby measured 900mm (h) x 697mm (w) and was produced from solid opal acrylic, giving it face, edge and halo illumination. Being mounted to the wall, it was supplied with a fitting template and a CASAMBI-compatible transformer to drive the LEDs.

Swing & Spritz was also made from Neon Ultra® but was pre-mounted to a 25mm channel frame that could be suspended over the bar from the ceiling. Measuring 1600mm (w) and with a channel drop of 200mm, it also illuminated the same red in the same product to ensure brand consistency with the Slice Slice Baby sign which was visible by the main door.

RECEPTION – Flatcut Acrylic

RECEPTION was produced from 5mm red acrylic which was bonded to a contour-cut clear acrylic mount. This had holes pre-cut into it to ensure installation was as easy as possible, and measured 1082mm (w) x 156mm (h).

TOPPERS TAVERN etc – Vinyl-coated Acrylic

All of non-illuminated gold signs were produced from cutting 5mm clear acrylic to the shapes of the lettering and then applying brushed gold vinyl to the faces. This was the case for

TOILETS THIS WAY, TOILETS, GOLF THIS WAY – Lightboxes

All three lozenge-shaped lightboxes were made in the same manner. Built-up acrylic shapes were formed and given a foamex back. The back, sides and 20mm of the face was wrapped in a brushed-gold vinyl and black vinyl lettering was then applied to an opal acrylic face. The lightboxes were illuminated from within using high-efficiency LED modules.
