We’ve been fans of the Cheeky Parlour since it opened a year ago, but we’re even more impressed now its had a full-scale makeover of its own
In the word’s of The Evening Standard, ‘Cowshed spas ultra cool little sister’, Cheeky Parlour was a brand to come out of the iconic Soho House Group. Having asked Carousel Lights to help with much of their signage in the past, Soho House again approached Carousel Lights and asked us to help with the signage and lighting for their Cheeky Parlours in Holborn (London), Top Shop (Oxford Street) and Berlin (Germany).
There’s a clubhouse vibe, as pink neon lights take the shape of lips and flamingos on the wall.
Having already worked with Soho House’s Design & Development team, we knew the style of their brands and how they portrayed them in their physical locations. The team already had some ideas for how they wanted to incorporate neon into their Cheeky locations in Holborn, Berlin and Top Shop. Their initial thought’s were to have ‘Cheeky Nails’ hanging in each window, but after various discussion, we decided that it would be preferable to have neons on the back wall, which would be visible from outside as they matched up to the view in through the windows, but which would have a powerful fun and of course cheeky aesthetic for customer who were inside having their treatments.
The final designs chosen for the neons was ‘Cheeky’, ‘nails’ in a speech bubble, a flamingo and a pair of lips. Each was produced in 10mm Hot Pink (402) neon glass with black blockout paint which was overpainted with white. White silicone caps were used for a neat and clean finish, and the neons were mounted onto a white painted distressed brick wall. Each was powered with its own specialist transformer.
