Construction options for your built up sign
Acrylic built up signs
Creating built up letters and custom signs from acrylic gives us maximum flexibility. When work with steel and aluminium we can have more constraints, but with acrylic we can do custom outline shapes and dimensions. One of the key constraints with acrylic is the colour options that we have, but we can apply vinyls (opaque and translucent) over the acrylic to add colour and texture.
Rimless built ups
Rimless built up signs are typically produced from acrylic. Faces can be bonded on to the side returns and then graphics applied to the face. If illuminated, slight shadowing can appear around the edge of the face, but that can also help with the look, depending on what effect you’re looking for.
3D fairground bulbs signs
An absolute classic signage construction method that has stood the test of time as materials have transitioned through metals and plastics as well as from incandescent to LED lighting. The sizes and construction methods can be limited due to the space we need in order to infill the design with fairground cabochon bulbs, so speak to us about whether this style of sign suits your design.
Rimless and return builtups
Rim and return signage has stood the test of time, and continues to be an ever-popular choice amongst our customers. The rim (lip) on the face is fixed to the side return of the letter or shape, and the face is then located into position. Side returns are typically produced from steel or aluminium and the faces are typically produced from acrylic with vinyl. These are great options for robust custom signage – both illuminated and non-illuminated.
