We have produced a LOT of custom lightbox signs over the years. Of all the requests, logo lightboxes are most popular, but of course each of those is different as it uses each customer’s own logo. Of the others, ON AIR lightboxes are perennially popular. They started off being used for offices but are now even more popular as part of the set design for ON AIR Podcast signs and YouTubers.
The Studio 1 ON AIR lightbox sign was used specified by a corporate client for their office signage. It was inspired by the signage outside of each studio at Television Centre, the BBC’s old home in London. Carousel Lights, having a close connection to the BBC, researched the fonts used for ‘STUDIO 1’ and produced a black powdercoated steel lightbox, with an internal baffle so that the two sections could be illuminated independently of each other.
Metal lightboxes can be made any size (within reason) but the shortest side has to be at least 250mm long. The custom design is applied as a vinyl to an opal acrylic face and then lightbox is then illuminated using energy-efficient LEDs.
Acrylic ON AIR lightboxes can be faster to produce than steel lightboxes, and they’re often cheaper. We can add more details and we typically use an foamex back with keyholes so that the lightbox can be fitted to a wall. As each lightbox is custom-made, they can self-stand, be suspended, or indeed have fittings added that best suit your preferred fixing method.
