Carousel Lights were approaches and appointed as the supplier for the neon signs at Pop Mart’s new UK store on London’s Brick Lane.
Pop Mart has become one of the most exciting brands in the world of collectibles, transforming simple toys into cultural phenomena. Its unique blind-box concept combines art, creativity, and the thrill of surprise, making every purchase feel like an event. From iconic characters like Labubu, Molly, and Hirono to collaborations with talented artists from around the world, Pop Mart has built a passionate global community of collectors.
But more importantly, how did we do the neons?!
We start with straight tubes of 8mm diameter clear glass and follow a mirror pattern of FROM BRICKS TO DREAMS along with the outer border. Once the glass is bent it’s filled with neon gas which illuminates red in it’s natural state. The electrodes were painted with black blockout paint and then over-painted with white paint for a white aesthetic. The neon was mounted directly to the wall in the retail unit using 40mm neon tube supports, and the 5 sections of glass were then connected together and powdered by two specialist Hansen neon transformers.
HIRONO BRICK LANE was produced in the same manner as FROM BRICKS TO DREAMS but White 2800K neon glass was used, with it being filled with Argon as opposed to Neon in order to give it the cool white illumination.
Hirono is a fictional character that was created by Lang, an independent digital artist and content creator. Hirono is a design that gained a strong following in online art and animation communities.
Pop Mart is a Chinese toy company founded in 2010 by Wang Ning, headquartered in Beijing. It’s best known for selling collectible designer toys and figurines in a blind box format—sealed packages where you don’t know which specific figure you’ll get until you open it.
Pop Mart develops original characters with independent artists (about 76% of revenue) and licenses external IPs like Disney, Harry Potter, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Labubu, Molly, and Skullpanda are among its most iconic in-house IPs, created in collaboration with artists like Kasing Lung and Kenny Wong.
After going public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2020 (raising $676 million), Pop Mart expanded internationally to the U.S., U.K., Australia, South Korea, France, Malaysia, the Philippines, and other markets. The Pop Mart Hirono store on Brick Lane officially opened in February 2026 at 6 Dray Walk, Brick Lane, London.
